CUSTOM OPTICS

Start with the light.
Define the lens.

Share your optical requirements and mechanical constraints to begin a specification discussion.

01

Describe the application

Tell us about the light source, display or object, and working environment.

02

Define the optical requirements

Include aperture, focal length, material, wavelength and tolerances where known.

03

Review the proposed specification

Agree the drawing, test method and feasibility before ordering.

04

Confirm samples and production

Discuss sampling, quantity and timing with the supplier.

Prepare your specification

Dimensions · clear aperture · focal length · material · groove pitch · operating wavelength · tolerances · quantity

SELECTION & BUYER INFORMATION

Selection and purchasing questions

What should a custom Fresnel lens enquiry include?

Send the application, a sketch of the optical layout, outer dimensions, clear aperture, focal length and its definition, groove profile or pitch if known, material, wavelength range and mounting constraints. State which values are requirements and which are open to discussion.

How should samples be evaluated?

Agree the drawing revision and an acceptance method before ordering. Describe the light source, distances, alignment, receiver size and the property you will measure. Ask which dimensions and optical properties can be checked on a sample; numerical acceptance limits must be agreed for the project.

What is needed for a lens tooling discussion?

Include the intended lens geometry, forming process if known, tool dimensions, interface drawing and the required optical surface. Discuss tooling feasibility separately from the finished lens specification. Tool ownership, sample approval and delivery arrangements should be confirmed in the quotation.
